It’s A Bad Idea

Here’s a little something that made me giggle during our long trip back from Moab to Salt Lake City. I loved their spirit!

Bad idea

  1. That one picture explains my life!!! Of course there is the flip side: “It sounded like a good idea at the time!” I’ve said that a lot over the years. The one instance that comes immediately to mind was when I was hanging out on the wing strut of a Cessna Cardinal getting ready to let go and “enjoy” my very first sky diving experience! It got better on the second jump. And I have a fear of heights!!!

      • I did it because I was bored sitting in the barracks at Keesler AFB, MS. It led to my getting over my fear of heights (there is actually no feeling of falling…really….just a big fan blowing in your face!) Sport jumping (sky diving) got my foot in the door when I worked with 10th Special Forces Group, in Bad Tolz, W. Germany in the early 1980s….I was a USAF Tech Sgt, having not attended a formal military jump school, and it was an up hill battle to get the Green Beanies to accept me (I was the communications liaison for 3rd Air Force with the unconventional warfare folks in Europe). Once they found out I could talk the talk and had walked the walk, life was a bit easier!! Great bunch, the guys at Bad-T. Learned very quickly to not try and out drink them!!! Killed some brain cells that trip!

      • Wow. What a great story! Thank you for your service.

I am terrified of heights and imagine that jumping would cure that- because I would die of a heart attack!!
