Chillicothe Scarecrows

Chillicothe, Ohio really gets into Halloween. They have a Halloween Festival, the ghost walk I’ve been telling you about and a scarecrow contest in downtown.

Some of the scarecrows are traditional scarecrows with straw and fun outfits. Some look nothing like scarecrows but are positively fabulous.

This one is my favorite.

The Headless Horseman and his trusty steed can be found on Main Street near the Calvary Lutheran Church.

The church also has their own entry – Martin Luther Scarecrow.

And then there’s this one that my mother seemed to like best. That’s an ingenious use of an umbrella. Cute vintage bag too!

Downtown Chillicothe is very walkable with plenty of restaurants, cute shops, nice architecture and a handful of historical markers. The scarecrows are a great excuse to walk around. Their Halloween Festival is still going on today and tomorrow so you might take the kiddos to see what that’s all about too.

Happy Saturday, ya’ll. Now get outside and find some fun. I know that’s what I’m gonna do!
