The Promise Of A Journey

Is there anything more exciting than the promise of a journey? While road trips are my preferred mode of travel, I’m dying to try train travel.

How great would it be to avoid traffic and to keep zipping down the track without need to pull over for lunch, restroom breaks or a stretch of the legs?

For now, I’ll be happy with my road trips and dream of this adventure ahead!

  1. Taking the train can be great fun! It’s nice to look out the window and not have to drive. You get to meet people, and see things you don’t normally see when you’re on the road. I’ve taken the reason across the country a few times, and this summer plan to go up the Pacific Coast on a train trip.

      • When you eat meals they sit you with different people, so you can’t escape meeting new people. But, yes, it’s rather soothing gliding along watching the landscape drift by…

      • It sounds wonderful! I’m not adverse to meeting new people. In fact, I seem to be a magnet for lonely strangers and even made friends with some people at a diner counter today. 🙂

    • Yes! I have been on those too! We have a scenic railway in a neighboring town. It’s an antique engine and more geared toward the tourists but I have enjoyed the trip a few times.

  2. I wish there was better train service in this country. I’ve enjoyed traveling by train in Europe very much. I looked into going by train to Eugene, Oregon, but all the scenic stuff would be done at night! Pfft!!
