Scout went back to the vet yesterday. He’s fine. I evidently was paranoid and impatient and spend too much time obsessing over his potty habits.
Who knew I would ever have to write that line?
The vet was terrific though, working us in on a two hour notice. She did a thorough exam and was patient as I explained all the reasons why he’s had a stressful week and listed all the symptoms I have observed in the last few days.
When she announced that he’s perfectly healthy and doing great, he looked at me like he wondered what was wrong with me.
You dragged me here for this?
His eyes were absolute daggers. But the vet and I agreed that it was worth everyone’s time to confirm that he’s ok.
The worst part of this story is that after a week of me force feeding him medicine, putting very cold drops in his ears and dragging him to the vet twice, he still comes to me for comfort. In his misery, he either senses that it’s all because I care or simply has no one else to turn to and keeps coming back.
Either way, this little house panther is worth the stress and trouble. I just hope he still thinks I’m worth the trouble too!
When it comes to critters who can’t tell us when they’re not feeling well, it’s better to be safe than sorry. We call our vet sometimes just for reassurance at times, rather than making an office visit. Our new dog drank hubby’s chocolate milkshake and freaked. Call the vet – no worries. A 2-lb Hershey bar might be a different story!😂
It’s wonderful having a vet you can rely on to help in a pinch. When I called to describe his issues, they worked him right in and I am grateful. It was a cheap investment to know he’s ok.
Some other people who came out while I was waiting were not so fortunate. They had a pet put down. While I don’t know the circumstances, it was a painful and timely reminder how important our pets are to us.
I also would have freaked over the chocolate shake. That sounds dangerous!
She said at worst he might have caffeine-type jitters. In reality he was just a little mellower than usual, but didn’t act ill.
Oh, that’s good! What a relief that must have been.
Glad to hear that Scout is doing fine. It’s good that you took him in to get that peace of mind. It’s very comforting to hear that he’s still coming to you for snuggles despite everything that’s happened. Cats are the best.
They really are the best. I still can’t believe he keeps coming back after all he’s been through this week. Poor kitty!
Awww you’re such a good Mom to Scout! It’s better to be sure he’s ok then sit around worrying yourself to death. Now, hopefully, he doesn’t have to go to the vet again for a very long time.
I was so grateful that they could see him quickly. I apologized to the vet for wasting her time and she reassured me that it’s never a waste of time to make sure a kitty is healthy.
