Legos In The Garden

Last month I visited Kingwood Center Gardens and showed you pictures of the house and gardens. Today, I want to revisit that trip to show you more of the Lego sculptures currently on display.

This hummingbird and flower seem to defy the law of gravity.

This birdbath is quite realistic

The peacock was one of my favorite pieces. It’s comprised of 68,827 Lego bricks and it took about 625 hours to build. I cannot fathom the patience and time needed to make this piece.

I also really liked the tortoise with a bird perched on its back. It looks incredibly realistic.

The flowers were the draw for me to visit Kingwood but I appreciated the Legos along the way. For other people, the opposite was true. They went for the Legos but, hopefully, enjoyed the flowers and the time in nature along the way.

  1. I haven’t made it to Kingwood yet, but it is on my list! Your photos have made me want to go even more! For a garden closer to home, I think you would enjoy the English Garden Farm. (It is similar to Cory’s in Chillicothe, if you know that one.)
The English Garden Farm is the private garden of a guy who decided to open it to the public. The address is 6599 Old Rt 35 Jamestown, Oh. It’s 4 1/2 miles west of
I-71 just past the outlet mall in WCH. It’s a tricky road to find. One of those itty-bitty white signs County Rd 35B, maybe. Verves off to the left after you pass the Love’s Travel Stop. (I missed it, and ended up in Jamestown.) The guy’s phone number is
    937-675-7055. Maybe you’ve already been there….(?)
    Enjoy your day! Chris

    • I haven’t been there but this sounds promising! Do you need an appointment to visit? Thanks for the tip!

And yes!! You need to visit Kingwood. While there, be sure to go downtown for a ride on the carousel (it’s for all ages) and cool off with some ice cream at the Coney Island Diner!

      • No appointment needed, but you might want to call to make sure he is there. He did not answer the phone when I called, so I just crossed my fingers and went. (He said he will call you back if you leave a message.) Supposedly he has hours on Sunday afternoon, from 1-5pm, but you never know these days.
I will be sure to ride the carousel when I go to Mansfield. Thanks!

      • Just wanted to let you know that I went to Kingwood Center Gardens yesterday, THANKS to you! It was perfect weather and I absolutely loved it. (The Legos were pretty cool also!) Had a wonderful time and I know I wouldn’t have done it, had I not seen your blog and photos. Thanks again, Brandi. (Too bad the carousel was closed…looks like another trip to Mansfield will be forthcoming.)
        Chris

      • I’m so glad you had a great time! It truly is a gorgeous place and a perfect spot to get lost. When you go back, consider going to the Ohio State Reformatory for a tour. The movie Shawshank Redemption was filmed there and it’s also pretty cool.

      • I went to the Reformatory a couple of years ago and thought it was great! There are so many neat places close to home…I’ve been trying to check them off my list!

  2. Re: English Garden…it’s 2-3 acres of cottage garden, lots of unusual trees and plants. The owner is what I would call a “plant collector”….he’s very interesting and extremely knowledgeable!

    • They are impressive! I like the way they become part of the landscape, appealing to people like me who go for the nature and cool enough for the Lego lovers to get them out in nature.
