Disappointed Face

Scout was home alone yesterday. Then I came home to feed him and change before leaving again.

He was disappointed in me. Can you see?

He’s a sweet boy but he has little tolerance for my coming and going as I please. It’s nonsense, he says. Who do I think I am anyway?

I try to explain to him that I have to go to work to earn money to give him the life he thinks he deserves. For a former street urchin, he has expensive taste in treats!

The good news is that I come home to fanfare. He waits in the window for my car to pull in the driveway and then he runs to the door, patiently waiting to be picked up and carried through the house.

It’s the best part of the day – except when he makes this face to remind me that he’s disappointed in me!

  1. Awwww! My kitty is the same way. He has a bit of separation anxiety, especially when I’m gone for longer periods of time. We’re going away on holidays on Friday so I’m trying to get in some extra snuggle sessions.

    • Scout is happiest when I just stay home. He was best adjusted when I was full time working from home during the pandemic.

And don’t even mention to him the prospects of my leaving for a trip!

  2. Ha! They have the whole guilt trip act down, don’t they? This morning, after my husband left for his bike ride—after walking the dogs—they put on the whole “Mom, when are you going to take us on our walk?” routine. As if, dudes. Not fooling me. But they persisted quite a while!

  3. Ugh. I know the look too well and I can’t bear it. lol

You’re so lucky that Scout waits in the window for you! When I come home I look up at my window, hoping to see a kitty face, but no. She’s usually asleep somewhere. LOL
