Google image search tells me this is a Great Spangled Fritillary. It was perched on some clover in the jungle that is my back yard when I came home yesterday. Seriously people. Rain plus heat plus no time to weed when it’s not raining is caused the weeds to take over.
Nonetheless, isn’t it beautiful?
I tend to see more moths than butterflies at my home for some reason so I was thrilled to find this visitor. Here’s hoping she brings friends and they hang around!
Great capture! Butterflies usually fly away faster than I can focus and click! Clover is good for your lawn.
You do have to be on your game to capture a butterfly. Either that or you need some good luck.
Even weeds that flower are mostly good for wildlife, so don’t fret too much! I love the butterflies and moths , like you. And bumble bees. Not so much the wasps, though.
Yes! They’re weeds because that’s what we say they are. That doesn’t diminish their value in nature.
Looks like the butterfly is enjoying a great lunch!
Great shot! Staying on top of weeding is like a full time job! But some weeds are actually beautiful and help attract the pollinators. So they’re not all bad!
They’re only bad because we say they are. The wildlife love them. Unfortunately, you can’t see the flowers for the weeds at this point!
