Anyone else ready to drive a road that looks like this? Holy cow. I feel like I’m stuck in the eighth week of August and desperately want to be rid of summer.
Fall can’t get here quickly enough.
This photo is from several years ago on a road out of Thomas, West Virginia. That’s the gorgeous Blackwater Falls region if you’re familiar and I was there on Columbus Day. Most businesses were closed because it was Monday but the roads were wide open and I was delighted that this area was enjoying a vibrant fall foliage season.
I’m ready for pumpkins and sweaters, cozy blankets and the crunch of leaves under my feet. Not to mention the hot chocolate, azure blue October skies, and road trips to nowhere in particular.
There’s so much to see and do in October I feel like I need to rest up so I’m prepared to not miss a thing when it finally arrives.
Who else is eager for what lies ahead?
I’m so ready! It hasn’t been super hot here, but it’s been humid. There are a few places I’d like to get to for photos that the foliage has covered up. Muncie, Richmond, Anderson, and Indy also got smacked by historic floods this past week, so I’m also waiting for the waters to fully recede.
Flooding, fog and humidity here for a while now.
Before that it was heat and humidity.
It has been a rough summer for so many. I hope you are able to get out for those photos soon .
YES! I can’t wait until I can turn the AC off and finally have the windows open 24/7 instead of checking the weather app: “Oh…still 80F out at 8:33pm? Won’t be 72F until 1am? Guess I’ll be staying up late just so that I can open the windows for a few hours tonight.

You bet! The fall is my favourite time of year. Can’t wait for cooler weather, pumpkin flavoured everything and for the leaves to change colour.
I started decorating for fall tonight, I’m moving on from summer even if summer won’t move on from Ohio for a while.
It’s been a tough summer for weather in our area! Definitely ready for cooler, calmer fall!
