I awoke this morning dying to go outside – to move, to breathe fresh air. However, it’s 61 degrees and rainy here in my corner of the world so I had to abandon those aspirations and settle for something else.
Right now, I’m prepping food for the week – roasting potatoes, sauteing roasted Orangetti squash, chopping stuff and enjoying how cozy my house feels on a rainy day. Some light cleaning and laundry are on the agenda too but it’s one of those nice, relaxed days that we all need sometimes. My dad calls it “piddling.” He likes to piddle in the garage. I’m just piddling today, taking my time at accomplishing some needed tasks, doing a few things I’ve been putting off, and just enjoying being at home.
I opened the kitchen window so I can still get some fresh air. The sound of rain can be heard softly over the melodies of Simon and Garfunkle on the record player. The house smells divine thanks to wax melts from my friend Susan’s candle shop.
Once my work is done, I’m planning to make some homemade potato chips and kick up my feet either with a movie or with a book I’ve been dying to read.
It’s a good day.
