If you had free time in October, where would you spend it? I’m looking for a low cost adventure within driving distance of southern Ohio and just can’t get excited about anything that’s on my radar.
Therefore, I’m taking suggestions!
I’ll be adventuring solo and would like to be somewhere that feels like fall. Y’all know the kinds of nerdy things I like – history, architecture, cool diners and the like.
Comment and tell me what you would do with an October vacation!
Canada? How long would it take to drive to Ontario?
A long time. Lol. It is beautiful up there!!
Ah ok – looked doable on the map, but then I have maybe a differing sense of scale – nowhere’s far when you live on an island!
How far’s the Atlantic coast? 😀
Well, if we’re talking Ontario the city, it’s about fifteen hours. Ontario the province is much closer – Toronto is a little under nine hours. I actually thought about going up to Greenfield Village which is in Deerborn, Michigan and then crossing into Canada. Deerborn is under five hours from here.
(googles Greenfield Village…), Wow, that could be good – looks like an interesting place!
I was there once and didn’t allow enough time. You really need a day for the village and one for the museum so I would love to go back someday.
Another for the list then!
This place is pretty incredible.
It does look good!
Virginia Beach is about 8.5 hours. I would love to stick with five or under if I can so I’ll have more time to roam my destination. Unless the journey is the destination. 🙂
We always try to make the Journey part of the holiday, but yeah – 9 hours in the car would be pushing it.
I’m not going to suggest a road trip to New England then (to see the trees) 😀
That’s on my list for someday but I would want plenty of time and money for that.
😀 (isn’t that always the way)
Always!
It might be on the longer side for a drive but have you been to Galena, Illinois? It’s a very cute little town with a lot of Grant history, since he lived there for a time.
I haven’t been there. Will look into it! Thank you!
Let me know if you end up going! I would be happy to give you tips on my favorite spots.
I will do that! If not this time then certainly another! I love interesting new towns. 🙂
I hope to make it onto the Foothills Trail sometime. I was almost there but my cousin was with me who thought lightly of the trip and ended up hurting his knee because he packed too much and the trail ascended 1200 feet in the first 3 miles…
Where is that trail?
Mostly in South Carolina. 77 miles!
