Say hello to my new friend. He’s a Regal Moth who has been hanging out around my back door. He was waiting for me on the porch door yesterday morning. The orange is even brighter and more striking in person than in this poor phone photo. I was dying to run for my camera but life dictated that I keep to a schedule at that moment.
That happens sometimes.
I’m not sure why I’ve had a large community of moths around that area for the last few years but it seems the variety of characters living here is becoming more diverse all the time.
I don’t understand it but it brings me joy and wonder. That’s all that matters.
Beautiful! How big? Looks huge. I’m glad you’re seeing more diversity. We seem to see less here.
It seemed huge to me. I didn’t measure it but it was close to three inches long. It makes my heart happy to see all the little creatures here.
That IS a big moth!
He was huge. I would love to see him fly. On the other hand, there are some tiny green ones no bigger than the nail on my pinky finger.
