A New Day

Doesn’t this look inviting? It’s from my last road trip through Indiana. I haven’t had much fun since that April weekend and it’s starting to show.

Life has been harder than it needs to be for some time now. I try to plan and to live with intention but am surrounded by people who fly by the seat of their pants and waste my time. I’m trying to extract myself from these relationships and these circumstances but it’s starting to feel impossible.

So I muddle through and am exhausted by it all. I just want to sit under a tree and rest a while. What I wouldn’t give for a summer camp for chronically exhausted adults.

I have plans for today to help me recharge my battery – something just as important as actual sleep. Wherever you are on this Friday, I hope you are able to recharge your battery and feel good.

Today is a new day.

  1. YES that road looks inviting! I want to ride a bike on that road.

Do you have an example of how people fly by the seat of their pants and waste your time? Nothing specific, of course, in case they stumble upon your blog. Could you give a fake example? I can’t wrap my head around it.

A summer camp for chronically exhausted adults sounds great! Sign me up! Although I must say, finally being here, in my own little apartment, with no one to worry about or take care of but myself and a sweet kitty, kind of feels like a summer camp for this exhausted adult. I feel like my brain is finally starting to chill out and relax and now my body is following and I’m just now starting to feel the twinges of cabin fever and the need to get out and enjoy life again. Starting tomorrow (Sunday) with my friend, Karen!!!

I hope whatever you ended up doing on Friday *did* recharge your battery! I will keep reading your blog forward and will soon find out! ha ha

    • I have enjoyed following along as you adjust to your new normal. As much as you have focused on feathering your nest, it seems high time to get back out in society and spend time don’t fun things with friends. I hope you have fun!!

That summer camp does sound amazing. I bet people would pay a lot of money for such a place. For me, a luxury cabin with blackout curtains, a well stocked lending library and someone to bring me delicious healthy meals would be a good start!

So, it’s everywhere I go. It’s the cashier that takes a break from scanning my stuff to tell me a story about why they’re tired today when I’m in a hurry to move on. It’s people who make appointments but show up
thirty minutes late because they didn’t plan their day. It’s people who call begging for a favor because they forgot to ask for something last week and that causes me to drop what I’m doing to deal with their crises right now. I find that I am surrounded by people who either don’t plan or who plan and then change their minds constantly and impose their lack of preparedness on anyone in the line of fire. It’s even vendors who won’t provide a quote when asked or who send information at the very last minute, demanding immediate attention because they’re in deadline.

Sometimes I feel like a first responder helping everyone else with their whims and problems to the extent that my priorities take a backseat. And it feels like I never do anything right or good enough for some of these people.

I like to live my life with some sense of planning, thought and intention but my sense of intention is taking a beating these days and it’s wearing me out.

Yesterday did me a world of good. I’m not cured but it sure did help!!
