I’ve been having a hard couple of weeks. Not sure why but I’ve been moody and struggling to snap out of it.
Luckily, the sun has been shining here in my corner of the world and I’ve made it a priority to be outside, preferably deep in the woods.
Being close to nature clears my head. I breathe better. I’m happier. Just to feel dirt and pine needles, leaves and rock under my feet makes me feel more at ease, more like myself.
I coerced a good friend into venturing out to Lake Katherine last night. He’s a good companion and doesn’t appear to mind when I stop for a picture or just to stare at water and lean against a tree.
It’s important to have people like that in your life.
I worry sometimes that I’m going to just run wild in the woods but I suppose there are worse vices!
What’s your coping mechanism? Tell me about it in the comments.
Any outdoor activity is a great mood booster: bike ride, gardening, bird watching, dog walking, etc.
I love anything that gets me moving outdoors. Even weeding a flower bed is good for the mind and soul.
In the house I grew up in we had a small wooded area out back. I used to love hanging out there and listening to the critters and feeling the pine needles. One time I skipped school and spent the day there. I think I learned more that day than anything school could teach me.
I imagine you did! And what a great memory too!
Am I allowed to say Wine?
Being outside is good for the soul – it reconnects us to our ancestors and the natural world that we should be more a part off. These nothing better than getting a good lung full of fresh air.
Wine is good for the soul also.
Hahaha… whatever gets you through, my friend. Chocolate is another good one!
And Pringles….
Really any kind of cookies, a soft blanket and a comfy chair…. it’s probably best that I just keep moving…..
😀 Being outside is probably better for your health.
I’m guessing you’re right!
