This week I made a list of small projects that can easily be completed in just a few minutes. So far I have restyled the bookshelf in my living room, gone through a pile of papers that were in the way and pulled out some dvds to sell in an upcoming yard sale.
As crazy as it may sound, the most meaningful project involved this $3.50 tool from Dollar General.

When I moved into this house nineteen years ago, there were stickers on most of the windows. My fiancée at the time insisted we leave these stupid stickers in tact. By the time he was my ex husband, the stickers were baked on the windows and impossible to remove.
I got angry every time I saw them for many, many years.
With dread, I added this to the list (#1) and researched how to remove them. The internet was no help so I picked up this little razor blade gadget and the stickers came right off! It took less than fifteen minutes to remove them all and clean the windows.
Nineteen years and fifteen minutes later and my windows no longer make me angry. This is the ultimate precautionary tale for all the angry procrastinators out there.
Too often we set unattainable goals for ourselves. We will clean the entire house or declutter all the stuff we don’t like but we lose steam quickly. The goals are so big we can’t possibly complete them. By breaking everything down into bite sized chunks, it’s easier get something done.
Some days I do one small thing and some days I do a few but at least I’m doing something. Every mile is walked one step at a time and I’m pleased with this new approach.
Thank you for this brilliant idea! I just grabbed my 28 item (and counting) To Do List and highlighted the tasks that could be done in 15 minutes or less. In the process, I discovered several tasks I had recently completed and forgot to cross off the list, so that was an added bonus. lol
This has been a great way for me to tackle small things that bug me but
are never a priority. It’s nice when fifteen minutes can improve lifestyle!
Glad you were able to “scrape off” those PESKY stickers! Sometimes it’s those little things that irritate us the most. YEAH….to marking that one off of your list.
On another note….I know how you like interesting architecture, art, etc…
If you are not busy Saturday morning (July 15, 9:30-11am) the Greenfield McClain High School is going to be open for tours. If you have never seen it, I think you would enjoy it. It’s quite a place….there is Rookwood Pottery tile around the drinking fountains, art and sculptures in the halls, a marble staircase, swimming pool, to name a few highlights. The school has an art catalog for everything, there is so much. It was built in 1914, and was a gift to the community from Mr. McClain. It has Ohio Historical designation. It’s amazing.
Oh! Thanks for the tip! I’m not sure what I’m doing Saturday but that sounds fantastic! I have heard that it’s a unique building. What a great idea!
