Elliot’s Wood Fired Kitchen And Tap

Work took me to Pataskala, Ohio earlier this week. My department went to lunch at the closest restaurant in walking distance. Turns out, it was an excellent choice.

Elliot’s Wood Fired Kitchen and Tap feels part sports bar, part speakeasy. I tried the wood fired veggie pizza since they are known for their pizza. It was much larger than I expected and quite tasty. The leftovers were a perfect dinner that night.

My coworkers tried the pepperoni pizza, Brussels sprouts, fries and both fish and chicken tacos. They all seemed pleased too.

When I go to Pataskala, I typically hit The Nutcracker Family Restaurant so trying something new was a real treat.

If you get a chance, check them out! View their menu and get the specifics here.

Around The Block

I drove right by this corner on Main Street in Pataskala, Ohio yesterday. Fortunately, my good sense kicked in and I hit my turn signal to circle the block.

Pataskala Presbyterian Church is a real beauty and it seemed to glimmer in the morning sunlight. This Gothic Revival Church was built in 1868. When it was added to the National Register in 1983, it was noted as an important example of mid-19th century Gothic Revival church design. The church is also important because the congregation, established in 1837, was the earliest of religions established here.

Across the quiet tree lined street was this fantastic scene. I liked the cottage, the streetlight and the seventies era Ford pickup truck.

I was on a mission, headed to a work meeting, but it was pleasing to still see something interesting along the way. Isn’t that what it’s all about? Finding something to spark some joy amidst the mundane is a great feeling.

Go around the block if you must. It will be worth it.

Nutcracker Family Restaurant

When I visited the Cranberry Bog at Buckeye Lake a few weeks ago, my pal directed me into Pataskala for an early dinner at the Nutcracker Family Restaurant. I have been a few times but find it such a delight that going again was a true pleasure.

This isn’t exactly the best place to find vegetarian or even healthy food but I do still eat some fish occasionally so I was happy to get the perch special. It was fried to perfection.

I didn’t take a ride!

As you can see in the picture at top, there’s lots of interesting stuff to study while you wait for your food.

I wrote about the Nutcracker Family Restaurant once before. You can read that story and find more pictures by clicking here.

Sneak Peak

Here’s a sneak peak of a diner I’m going to tell you about this week. Great atmosphere, nice servers and pretty good diner fare can be found here. And check out that jukebox!

Stay tuned…..
