Goodwill Silo

One of the most perplexing things I’ve seen lately is this Goodwill store with a silo in the middle of it. It’s located on a busy street in Medina, Ohio.

We had just loaded up on breakfast at a nearby Waffle House when I saw the silo and knew I had to stop and browse. It’s a nice enough store but I found nothing to buy except a large framed painting that someone else was already buying.

That’s how it goes sometimes!

The internet is oddly quiet about why this silo has a Goodwill attached or, from a different perspective, why this Goodwill has a silo. There’s a Reddit board where lots of people are reminiscing about the good old days when this was a farmers exchange. Evidently the silo once housed an ice cream shop.

That seems like a reasonable use for a silo, if you ask me!

Old Silo

Doesn’t it look sad? You can still see some of the rubble from the barn that once accompanied this silo.

It’s like a pepper shaker without its salty mate.

Down The Lane

barn 2

Down the lane and through the farmyard seems like a good place to be. Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing today, find a way to be kind to yourself.

Follow that path, pause to breathe fresh air, capture the moment with a photo. It’s worth the effort. I promise.

Farm View

There’s this farm I pass by somewhat frequently. It’s visible from the highway to Athens, always well tended and, for lack of a better word, quaint.

On a recent trip, the sky and light were nice and the farm caught my eye. I drove by but couldn’t get it out of my mind. My trusty camera was on the seat next to me so I turned around real quick and headed back.

Here’s another view.

Isn’t it pretty?

It’s always fun when you suddenly notice something you’ve passed by countless times without a second thought. In fact, this is the kind of thing I live for. Happy travels, friends.

Don’t Mind Me

Don’t mind me……it’s just another barn from my travels. Have a great day!

Blue Skies

The sky was such a clear, brilliant blue the other day that I had to pull over and grab a few pictures.

Like this great tree and barn.

And these shiny silos.

And this pretty church.

I have more pictures of the church so I’ll tell you more about it another day.

Blue skies and sunshine. They just make everything better.
