Monday Reminder – Life Is Short

Hello and good morning, friends. I always marvel when Monday morning rolls around so quickly as it has done this week.

Weekends are never long enough to pack in the things that need done and what we want to do. This weekend seemed especially short. It was spent close to home and was a nice balance of fun, relaxation and work around the house.

Mondays always remind me that life is short. We have a finite number of hours in this world and it’s important to use them wisely.

Do your job and do it well. If you aren’t happy, go find something you like better. Take pride in your work and in the things you do for yourself and your home.

Just remember not to get so caught up in what has to be done that you have no time to accomplish what you want to do and what makes your heart happy.

Scout didn’t wait for permission to commandeer this shelf. He seized the day and moved in the minute an opportunity presented itself. He knew what would make him happy and he took it!

Obligations are just that. You may be obliged to do them but don’t allow yourself to live such a life of servitude to other people and to the things you own that you have no time for yourself.

Go forth. Work hard. Play harder. Be the master of your own life and never stop searching for what will make your journey fun.

Appreciate This Day

It’s Monday. For many of us, those two words mean just one thing: there are five days to survive to get to the weekend.

It’s like we’re wishing our lives away.

I’m certainly guilty of this. The workweek can be busy and tiring. I like my job but have a rich and fulfilling life outside of work and look forward to living it.

This week I’m committed to focusing on appreciating each day – even the long and frustrating ones. After all, we aren’t given many days in this lifetime and it’s best to not squander them wishing for another.

So, friends, I wish you the very best this day and the rest to come. Happy Monday!

Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Teddy Bear?

This weekend didn’t go according to plan. My fella, also known as Mr. Wonderful, lives about 90 minutes from me so we take turns visiting on weekends. This was his weekend to come here for some thrifting and hiking but his sinuses were not so wonderful and he spent all of Saturday in bed.

So I took myself out for a little adventure, literally going wherever the wind blew me. One of my stops was at an antique mall where I found something that I have been seeking for literally a year or more. And you will think it’s silly but that’s ok.

Little Red Riding Hood Salt and Pepper Shakers.

They match a milk pitcher that Mr. Wonderful gave me last year. We had found another set of salt and peppers several months ago but they were almost $40 and my frugal self couldn’t compute the price tag.

This set was just $14. Smiles!!

Fortunately Mr. Wonderful was a bit better yesterday so we met for a movie. If you haven’t seen “TED” it is cute, vulgar and irreverent. It’s a little low brow but you just need that once in a while.

Besides, it isn’t every day you hear Peter Griffin’s voice come out of a teddy bear.

I also cleaned a closet and got in a little exercise. Jillian Micheals and Leslie Sansome are doing their best to help me be healthy. Too bad I sabotaged their efforts with  a milkshake during my solo road trip and movie candy!

What did you do this weekend?
