Monday Reminder – Life Is Short

Hello and good morning, friends. I always marvel when Monday morning rolls around so quickly as it has done this week.

Weekends are never long enough to pack in the things that need done and what we want to do. This weekend seemed especially short. It was spent close to home and was a nice balance of fun, relaxation and work around the house.

Mondays always remind me that life is short. We have a finite number of hours in this world and it’s important to use them wisely.

Do your job and do it well. If you aren’t happy, go find something you like better. Take pride in your work and in the things you do for yourself and your home.

Just remember not to get so caught up in what has to be done that you have no time to accomplish what you want to do and what makes your heart happy.

Scout didn’t wait for permission to commandeer this shelf. He seized the day and moved in the minute an opportunity presented itself. He knew what would make him happy and he took it!

Obligations are just that. You may be obliged to do them but don’t allow yourself to live such a life of servitude to other people and to the things you own that you have no time for yourself.

Go forth. Work hard. Play harder. Be the master of your own life and never stop searching for what will make your journey fun.

Every Day Can’t Count

Make every minute count. You only live once. Carpe diem. You’ve heard all these phrases and more like them.

Those people who insist that every day must count are well meaning, but man, they are exhausting. We get a finite amount of days in this life so it is best not to waste them. I get that. In fact, many people waste every single day and then complain the world is passing them by. We can’t do that either.

Unfortunately, every day can’t be the best, most productive day filled with breakthroughs or adventures. We can’t always be high energy and ready to tackle the world. Anyone who says different is either selling something or lying to themselves too. On the flip side of the coin, when our world turns small, it’s important to find ways to be fulfilled and to make life more meaningful..

There has to be a middle ground.

Some days are only meant to be survived. These days don’t need to count – they just need to accumulate. Think of them as rungs on a ladder to help you get to the next step. You have to keep moving forward to get through this day and on to the next and the next and the one after that.

Whether the days seem dreary and hopeless or the night long and dark, the night will eventually end, the clouds will move on and the sun will shine again.

There’s a point every year that I need a mental health day but can’t get one in good conscience. It sucks but it’s character building. At least that’s my theory and it does help. After all, if you think that what you’re doing is good for you, it’s easier to keep going.

So keep going. You’ll get there.

Your Monday Pep Talk

It’s Monday. It’s cold. The weekend was short and the week ahead will likely be long. Odds are you’re feeling at least a little tired, perhaps somewhat broken and overwhelmed. In the interest of not wishing our lives away by hoping the days will move quickly, I offer you this quote:

“You are worn and cracked and dented. And that is okay because I have never heard of a clean and shiny sword that won a war.”

Erin Van Vuren, Writer

Go forth, my friends. Do what you must to find joy in each day. Go to sleep every night satisfied that you did your best. Remember that tomorrow is a beautiful new day and one waiting to be discovered. You can do this – despite those cracks and dents.

One Of These Things

One of these things is not like the others. And that’s ok. Dare to be different, not for the sake of being different, but for the sake of being you.

Embrace your true self. Be authentic and appreciate your quirks. There will never be another you and there’s no need to pretend you’re something you are not.

So join in the gang or the gaggle as the case might be. Just don’t pretend to be something you’re not to fit in when clearly standing out as your fabulous self is way better.

Monday Pep Talk

Good morning! It’s Monday. Let’s attack this day like a giant gorilla on the side of the King Kone in Cassadaga, New York.

If you hit snooze on Monday morning you’re setting a tone of procrastination for the day and the entire rest of the week. If you hop up and get your day started, you’ll find you have a much better experience.

And in case you aren’t sure, this is the pep talk I need to read this morning. Hopefully it helps you too!
