Friday

It’s Friday. Usually, by this point in the week, I like to have my to do list at work and at home somewhat under control.

Have you ever pulled a loose thread on a sweater only to find everything coming unraveled? Welcome to my week.

I have no reason to believe that conditions will improve today but I’ll give it the old college try and see what can be done.

Here’s hoping for quiet and productivity for us all. A smooth transition into the weekend would be lovely. In case you’re wondering, the picture is from Lake Rupert one morning earlier this week.

Hibiscus At Lake Rupert

Today they call it the Wellston Wildlife Area but, to me it will always just be Lake Rupert. The property is about 1,300 acres and features a 327 acre man made lake.

It was built in 1969 so many local people remember homes and even a covered bridge that once were located at the site. The covered bridge was picked up and moved to another location but the homes were simply vacated and flooded.

This is a popular spot for fishing and boating. I like it for the birdwatching and for the hibiscus which are in bloom right now.

Aren’t they beautiful?

Forlorn

It’s been gloomy a lot here lately but this scene is simply forlorn.

It was early Friday and rain had settled in for the day. The fog was trying to lift but these bare trees against that fog were just too much to resist. What I wouldn’t have given to have my camera in the seat next to me but had to settle for capturing this with my phone.

One of these days, snow will blanket the landscape and it won’t look so sad. For now, all we can do is seek beauty in unexpected places.
